Three FDS clients are receiving national attention thanks to a recent Consumer Reports article. Titled “Get More From Your Pharmacy,” the article praises independent pharmacies and their ability to serve their communities. “Personalized care … seems to be what people value in a drugstore — and where independent pharmacies seem to excel,” writes reporter Lisa L. Gill.
For the article, Gill spoke with three independent pharmacy owners: Benjamin McNabb of Love Oak Pharmacy in Eastland, Texas; Chris Antypas of Asti’s South Hills Pharmacy in Pittsburgh; and Hashim Zaibak of Hayat Pharmacy of Milwaukee. Each discussed what separates their drugstores from bigger chain stores like CVS and Walgreens. “People want to be treated as individuals,” says Antypas. “Independent pharmacists can do this because we are focused on the patient relationship.”
“Get More From Your Pharmacy” references the latest pharmacy ratings from Consumer Reports, based on a survey of over 78,000 members. In that survey, independent pharmacies earned high marks on knowledge, accuracy, courtesy, and helpfulness.
“We’re happy Consumer Reports is recognizing the key role independent pharmacists play in patient care and community health,” says FDS Chief Executive Officer Adam McMullin. “At the same time, we are proud to support these FDS clients as part of our mission to strengthen the health of pharmacies and their patients.”
“Get More From Your Pharmacy” can be found online on Consumer Reports’ website or on newsstands in the March 2019 edition.
